Our History

RSI has been working with individuals with therapy needs and their families since 1983 when it was founded by Speech-Language Pathologist, Sandra Tirnauer, MS, CCC-SLP.  Sandra began RSI to “do some good” in the world by way of helping individuals in need of therapeutic intervention.  Its longevity and success is due in part to the agency’s responsiveness to the community as a whole and to the families they service.  Sandy passed on her legacy of caring to her daughter, Diana Weinrich, who is the current owner and President of RSI.  Diana continues in her mother’s footsteps by being involved in the daily operations of the agency.  Ms. Weinrich has been working full-time with RSI since 1992.  She holds an MBA & MS from University of Maryland at College Park.  Prior to working with RSI, Ms. Weinrich worked in management and financial analysis.

Speech-language pathologist Sandra Tirnauer, MS, CCC-SLP, founded Rehabilitation Services, Inc. (RSI) in 1983. Sandy’s vision for RSI was to always put people before profits. As a business owner who was also a practitioner, she understood the legislative, financial, and regulatory challenges therapists face when treating patients. Sandy helped her staff treat patients effectively and empathetically, while working within the constraints these challenges.

In 1992, Sandy was diagnosed with a terminal illness.  Her daughter, Diana Weinrich, moved back to Maryland to help "hold down the fort" at RSI during her mother's illness. Sandy had a lung transplant in 1993 and lived for another 15 years.  Sandy & Diana worked side-by-side during that period to shape RSI into what it is today.

Today, Diana leads RSI with the same vision and values as her mother: compassion, professionalism, and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient care.
